Uzbekistan urges Afghan authorities to negotiate with Taliban

Uzbek President, Islam Karimov, has called on the Afghan authorities and the radical movement ‘Taliban’  for the peace talks under the auspices of the United Nations, noting that no matter how is the situation in Afghanistan, there is no other solution to the Afghan problem, except for the peace talks. At the same time, according to the head of the state, the two sides should not link the fact of the start of negotiations with any preconditions. "It is also necessary to have a strong political will for the mutual concessions and compromises. This is what can bring the Afghan problem out of the impasse,"  the Uzbek leader said at the international high-level conference "The Policy of Neutrality: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development",  RIA News reports.

Karimov noted that the power of terrorism is that it penetrates everywhere, and the world still does not have the weapons with which to oppose it. According to the president of Uzbekistan, "to fundamentally resolve these issues, it is necessary to pay attention to the culture medium, which today creates an environment where the centers that feed terrorism continue to operate.’’
