Yunus-Bek Yevkurov: Ingushetia and South Caucasus are connected by history and modern time

Ingushetia and the South Caucasus countries are connected not only by current economic and cultural cooperation, but also by common history. the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov stated, answering the question of Vestnik Kavkaza's correspondent during the press conference

"Overall, if we take Azerbaijan, for example, we have signed a number of deals and agreements. One of the directions of our cooperation is, of course, intereconomic and investment projects. Moreover, we use Azerbaijan's experience in building meat and dairy complexes. Azerbaijani specialists worked together with ours, and we even discussed the issue of production of milk and frozen products," he said.

According to him, there are many representatives of Azerbaijani diaspora in Ingushetia. "In the framework of diaspora, the Azerbaijani side plans to launch new projects that will create new jobs," Yevkurov explained.

In addition, he drew attention to the fact that Ingushetia, Azerbaijan and Armenia are connected by the historic event of the Great Patriotic War: soldiers of all nationalities participated in the Battle for Caucasus, including Azerbaijanis. "We established cooperation in the field of search operations in order to immortalize the memory of heroes that died during the Great Patriotic War," he said.

"So we established different forms. But were unable to reach the level of large-scale investment and economic cooperation between us yet," he concluded.

Yevkurov also commented on the terrorist attack at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport. First of all, he expressed his condolences over the tragedy.

He noted that the fight against international terrorism is worth it only when it is carried out jointly, otherwise it is fruitless.

According to Yevkurov, the significance of Turkish President's apology to Russian President lies in the fact that now, Russia and Turkey can return to joint fight against terrorism. "It is great that Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote Vladimir Putin. It doesn't matter whether he apologized or not. The fact is that it is international practice. This step says a lot. First of all we must think about reducing the nubmer of terrorist attacks, not about tourism," he believes.

Returning to the topic of terrorism in the East, he stated that the authorities should carry out serious work in terms of ideology. "It is necessary to detect ideologists. Why are there terrorists who are ready to shoot and kill, thinking that they will immediately go to heaven for this? Because they were convinced that this is true," he said.

Yevkurov emphasized that extremists seek to discredit Islam, but no terrorist organization will be able to do it.
