Russia interested in restoring good-neighborly relations with Georgia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in an interview to Georgian Rustavi-2 TV channel.
According to her, Russia are interested in the full-scale restoration of Russian-Georgian relations.
"This corresponds to the fundamental interests of the peoples of our countries, and there are no obstacles on the Russian side, the progress of normalization depends solely on political will and realism," RIA Novosti cited Zakharova as saying.
In August 2008, Georgia cut diplomatic relations with Russia in response to Moscow's recognition of the independence of breakaway republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.Georgian PM's special representative for relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze and the Russian deputy foreign minister Grigory Karasin hold regular meetings since 2012.
