Russia welcomes the successful holding of elections to the Azerbaijani parliament on November 1, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"Russia welcomes the successful holding of parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. Representatives of the Federation Council, the Russian State Duma, the Russian Central Electoral Commission and authorities of Russian federal constituencies took part in the monitoring. Together with colleagues from other CIS countries, they praised the organization and elections. They noted the compliance with international standards and law of the country," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cited her as saying.
"The parliamentary elections have become a new, important step in the development of political institutions and civic society. Once again, I remind you that we have traditionally close, trusting relations with this country," Maria Zakharova stressed.
