Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that there is a need for expert discussions of the possibility of restoring the G8.
She noted that the initiatives need to be outlined and handed over to Russia for consideration. "At the moment, it is hard to understand what it is all about, so if the G7 wants to position itself as a serious platform, the discussion should be moved from the media field to the expert level," TASS cited the spokeswoman as saying.
U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters yesterday that "it’s much more appropriate to have Russia in" the G8.
