Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif appreciates Moscow's decision to withdraw the Russian Air Forces from Syria as a positive sign for maintaining the ceasefire.
"The fact that Russia announced they are withdrawing part of their forces indicates that they don’t see an imminent need to resort to force to maintain the ceasefire," he said.
"That itself could be a positive sign. We have to wait and see," RIA Novosti cited Zarif as saying.
Yesterday Russia's President Vladimir Putin ordered the Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to begin withdrawal of the Russian Air Forces from Syria starting from March 15, since the tasks the defense ministry was set have generally been fulfilled.
