Working group to check Kazakh off-shore enterprises in the Caspian for security

A working group formed by the Kazakh Ministry of Oil and Gas will
start inspecting all Kazakh off-shore projects in the Caspian Sea for
security measures, a ministry secretary Kanatbek Safinov told VK.

Kazakh Premier Karim Masimov ordered the Ministry of Oil and Gas and
the Ministry of Ecology to present their views on improving the
security of oil projects after the crash at the Deepwater Horizon rig
on April 20th in the Gulf of Mexico.

“That platform had a technical problem: the locking system after the
oil spill failed”, - the secretary noted.

Kazakh oil companies have made assurances that they won’t let such
problems occur, and that they will be responsible for any damage,
Safinov concluded.
