Russia starts inspecting oil platforms in Caspian and Sakhalin

Russia's Federal Service for the Supervision of Natural Resource Usage
started inspecting Caspian and Sakhalin oil platforms due to the
recent accident in the Gulf of Mexico, Natural Resources Minister Yuri
Trutnev said at a meeting in the Moscow Region, RIA Novosti reports.


A BP platform sunk near the U.S. state of Louisiana on April 22nd
after a 36-hour fire. The subsequent oil spill caused massive damage
to Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi coastlines.
