Restoring diplomatic relations with Russia is possible, the leader of
Alliance in the name of Georgia Irakli Alasania said at a meeting with
teaching staff of the Diplomatic Academy, Trend reports.
He believes that the main problem for national interests in the region
is Russia. But improving relations will complicate western
integration, Europe and the USA point out.
Alasania declared that there will be no breakthrough in relations
between Saakashvili, Putin and Medvedev. Russia's position is clear –
they will not talk with the Georgian leader. The Georgia president is
similarly inclined. Negotiations will require European mediators like
Germany and France, Alasania said.
He added that Georgia doesn’t have a chance of regaining its
territories by force, only through negotiations.
