Azerbaijani ambassador to visit Abkhazia

The Azerbaijani ambassador to Georgia, professor Namik Aliyev, will
visit the Abkhazian capital on May 20. In Sukhumi he plans to meet the
head of the local university, professor Joni Apakidze, as well as
members of the academic council and students, Rosbalt reports.

Aliyev's visit will be within the framework of culture rapprochement
year, announced by UNESCO. One of the main events is the 'ambassador's
hour', to which heads of diplomatic missions of various states were
invited to demonstrate the culture of their country to students.

Abkhaz President Sergey Bagapsh said earlier that Abkhazia is ready to
establish dialogues with CIS countries and welcomes recognition of its
independence.

"We have no unilateral demands, we do not want to be just recognized -
we are ready to establish dialogues and relationships with Ukraine,
Belarus and all CIS countries", he said.
