The Iranian foreign ministry has summoned Denmark's Ambassador to Tehran over the new round of oil sanctions the European Union has imposed against the Islamic Republic, Press TV reports.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Asghar Khaji met on Tuesday with Christian Hugard, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the EU, to protest against the oil ban.
On Monday, the foreign ministers of the 27-member body agreed to ban oil imports to the EU from Iran, a major OPEC member, and freeze the assets of the Iranian Central Bank across the European bloc.
The European Union has also imposed a ban on the sale of gold, diamonds, and other precious metals to Iran.
