Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to continue work according to Madrid principles

The Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ilkham Aliyev and Serzh
Sargsyan, in their conversation with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
agreed to continue dialogue on a Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, the
press-secretary of the Russian president, Natalya Timakova, said, RIA
Novosti
reports.


The basic principles of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, known as
the Madrid principles, were presented to Armenia and Azerbaijan by the
Foreign Ministers of France and Russia and the assistant US Secretary
of State in November 2007 in the capital of Spain. The Co-chairs of
the OSCE Minsk Group presented Armenia and Azerbaijan with a new
version of the Madrid principles at a trilateral meeting in Sochi on
January 15th.
