Russia to continue helping South Ossetia

Russian Vice Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin said at a session of the Russian-South Ossetian intergovernmental commission for socio-economic cooperation in Moscow that Russia will continue supporting South Ossetia despite economic problems and Western sanctions, Kommersant reports.

South Ossetia will have received over 9 billion rubles by 2017.

Khloponin noted that attendees of the session discussed aid in socio-economic development and rounded up progress in 2012-2013. The vice prime minister added that the current state of relations were satisfactory.

South Ossetian Prime Minister Domenti Kulumbegov stressed that all funds sent by Russia were spent purposefully. 20 of the 30 facilities planned for completion in 2014 have been constructed, according to Kulumbegov.
