"We are waiting for Armenia to respond but we have not yet received any answer" - foreign minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamedyarov announced commenting on the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Karabakh settlement, Armenia today reports.
He pointed out that he is going to meet OSCE representatives in the framework of his visit to Europe at the beginning of June. "As for the new Madrid principles, the co-chairmen are continuing their work with Armenia. Adoption of the principles depends on Armenia above all. Azerbaijan accepts them. If the Armenian side does, it will open great opportunities".
Commenting on the statement of Armenian defense minister Seyran Oganyan that there is no talk of ceding territory to Azerbaijan he said that the defense minister was not a direct participant in the talks. "Serzh Sargsyan, the president, and Edvard Nalbadyan, the foreign minister, are the ones with the power to express the official position of Armenia"
