Foundation stone laid of Olympic university in Sochi

Vladimir Putin and Jean Rogge, the president of the International Olympic Commitee, have laid a time capsule with a message to the future students of the International Olympic University. The ceremony of laying the first brick in the foundation of the university took place in Sochi today, RIA Novosti reports. The prime minister expressed hope that the university will become aninnovative center, which will play an important role in the development of sports and the international Olympic movement.

Formula One circuit may appear in Sochi

The Ministry of Regional Development of Russia proposes to construct a Formula One circuit in Sochi. The budget for the project is estimated at $200 million, Rosbalt reports, quoting "Vedomosti".The preliminary project has already been worked out with the Tilke GmbHm company, which deals with the construction of F1 circuits. The final decision will be made by Berny Ecklestone, who proposes to finish the construction by 2014 and organize the first race in the fall of 2014.

Ministry of Nature to introduce ecological monitoring system in Sochi

Yuri Trutnev, the minister of nature of Russia, has suggested introducing a system of ecological monitoring in Sochi, the Olympic capital of 2014, RIA Novosti reports."We have to construct a chain of observatory stations for monitoring the environment in a real time rigime" he said.The system will be railway-based - special carriages will be equipped with devices designed for ecological monitoring. The information provided by the stations will be open to the public. 

President of International Olympic Committee to discuss preparations for Sochi Olympiad with Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin will pay a working visit to Sochi on June 7th, where he will discuss problems in the preparations for the Sochi Olympics with Jaques Rogge, the president of the International Olympic Committee, RIA Novosti reports. Putin and Rogge will also lay the first brick of the International Olympic University. The University is planned as a higher school of Olympic management.

Sochi adopts Vancouver's experience

An official debriefing of the International Olympic Committee on the Vancouver games of 2010 is beginning in Sochi today, Interfax reports. Over 600 representatives of the Olympic and Parolympic movement will assemble in the future capital of the Winter Olympics. The debriefing will last for 6 days.
