On October 8, chief Ashton Carter met with Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Genyul in Brussels to discuss the fight against the terrorist group Islamic State.
The two sides also discussed Ankara's contributions to the counter-IS coalition. The head of the US defense department expressed gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for hosting US aircraft flying counter-IS missions at Incirlik.
In addition, the meeting "reaffirmed the United States’ and NATO’s steadfast commitment to Turkey’s security following Russia’s recent incursions into Turkish air space," TASS cited the press service of the US military as saying.
