Azerbaijan Railways checks tracks after earthquake

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC is operating in emergency mode in order to carry out checks on the safety of its infrastructure after the earthquake that took place today, the head of the press service of the Azerbaijan Railways, Nadir Azmamedov, said.

He said that the employees of the Department of Infrastructure of Azerbaijan Railways are now working to determine the safety of railways, bridges, stations, power supply systems, road signals and communication lines. The inspections will continue until all of the aftershocks have subsided, Trend reports.

An earthquake measuring 7 points at the epicenter and up to magnitude 6.5 in residential areas nearby was recorded in the Sheki district of Azerbaijan at 09:49:36 local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 13 kilometers.
