Azerbaijani Minister of Education, Mikayil Jabbarov, signed an order to continue the project 'Intensified learning of Russian language'. Russian language will be taught in 50 general educational institutions.
According to the order, the Ministry of Education's project of intensified learning of Russian language from class I to class IX in 2017-2018 will be continued in the Baku secondary schools No. 3, 12, 13, 36, 42, 45, 51, 63, 70, 95, 106, 129, 178, 193, 212, 238, 244, 245, 246, 250, 257, 263, 265, 272, 274, 275, 276, 278, 283, 284, 286, 292, 295, at the high school №20 and the school-lyceum complex №43.
The project will also continue in Ganja Secondary School No. 5, Mingachevir Technical and Humanitarian Lyceum, Sumgayit City School No. 11, Shirvan Secondary School No. 3, Khirdalan School No. 2 in the Absheron District, Sheki School No. 5, as well as Shamakhi School No. 6.
In addition, the project will continue at the school in the village of Talistan, Ismayilli region, the school in the village of Ali Bayramli in the Zagatala region, the school in the village of Agbulag of the Tovuz region, the school in the village Alimamedoba of the Guba district, the school in the village of Lajat of the Gusar district, the Masalli city school No. 2, the school in the village of Khavzava of the Lankaran region, the school in the village of Mamedabad of the Saatli district.
Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Agrifood Policy and Environmental Management, representative of the executive body of the Chelyabinsk region in the Federation Council Irina Hecht, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, noted that such Azerbaijan's attention to the preservation and development of Russian language speaks of Baku's correct approach to building Russian-Azerbaijani relations.
"First of all, it is an indicator of the wisdom of the Azerbaijani leadership. We recently returned from Kazakhstan, where they said that the post-Soviet countries still have friendly and professional ties. It is a wise and right thing to maintain the framework of the commonality of our peoples, and Russian language does it better than anything else," the senator said.
Russia, she said, is able to support Azerbaijan in this work to preserve and develop Russian language in the country. "When Valentina Matvienko during her visit to Tajikistan was informed that there are no teachers in the country, she personally took control of this issue. If there is the same initiative on the part of Azerbaijan, we will all get involved and help to do everything necessary to teach Russian language in the republic," Irina Hecht assured.
The deputy chair of the Russian Federation Council on Social Policy, the representative of the legislative body of the Smolensk Region, Lyudmila Kozlova, also drew attention to Azerbaijan's policy of strengthening ties with Russia.
"A lot of Russians have visited Azerbaijan this year, and the number of those who want to visit the republic increases every year," she noted.
"The preservation and development of Russian language in the republic will only improve our cooperation in all the areas, which are already at a high level, which will benefit both countries, Russia and Azerbaijan. Attention to Russian language is politically clever on every side," Lyudmila Kozlova underlined.
The senator also announced Russia's readiness to provide Azerbaijan support in teaching Russian language. "I am very happy about it, and Russia has always noted that the preservation of Russian-speaking schools in Azerbaijan is a positive moment," the deputy chair of the Federation Council on Social Policy concluded.
A member of the Russian Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, the senator from the Volgograd Region, Elena Popova, agreed with the senators. "We can only thank the Azerbaijani executive power, which works very competently. We hope that the teaching of Russian language will allow us to strengthen contacts between the regions and countries as a whole," she said, suggesting to organize trips of Azerbaijani children who are studying Russian to Russia.
"We would love to invite children from Azerbaijan to our Russian cities to acquaint them with our history, because languages cannot be learned without culture, and culture needs to be seen," Elena Popova drew attention.
"We are in favor of agreement between our countries and languages, because we are striving for the unification of peoples. We understand that it is impossible to build peace on a single territory - it is necessary to build peace in the whole world. And in this regard, we are very grateful to Azerbaijan for its support of Russian language," the senator stressed.
"We, for our part, will invite children from Azerbaijan to Russia more actively," the member of the Russian Federation Council Committee on Social Policy summed up.
