Following a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development in the first half of 2015 and objectives for the future under the chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov spoke about the results of the current economic strategy.
The minister believes that, despite the negative external factors, "the macroeconomic indicators achieved in the country during the first half of 2015 can be considered successful."
In the period from January to June, GDP in Azerbaijan was 26.3 billion manats, real growth was 5.7%, while the oil sector grew by 9.2%.
"The reserve fund of the President of Azerbaijan has allocated 74 million manats to the implementation of a number of important social and infrastructure projects, the construction of rural roads," the minister said.
Samir Sharifov also said that in the first half of this year 25 million manats have been allocated to the state program on providing the population of Azerbaijan with food products in 2008-2015, and 2972 businessmen have received preferential loans amounting to 96 billion manats, Trend reports.
