BRICS Youth Summit opened in Kazan

The BRICS Youth Summit, gathering more than 300 delegates, has opened today in Kazan.

As part of its presidency of the BRICS association, Russia is launching a "youth dimension" interaction of the five largest countries in the world. During the week starting on July 1, 2015, the first BRICS Youth Summit is being held in Russia. 

The first meeting was held by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, after which the participants of the summit moved to Kazan.

"The main objectives of the summit are building strong foundations of the youth dimension of BRICS, searching for active ways of cooperation in the framework of a multicultural multi-polar world, effective integration of young people into the process of multilateral cooperation of the BRICS," RIA Novosti cited the organizers of the forum.

At the end of the working sessions the young delegates will present to their colleagues and experts initiatives to expand cooperation among the members of BRICS in the following priority areas: economic, political, informational, scientific-technical and humanitarian. The accumulated material will be handed over to the heads of the departments responsible for the formation of a national youth policy. It will be an action plan to implement the memorandum of understanding in the sphere of youth policy of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
