Fate of Aleppo being decided in Syria

Russia and Syria are preparing a joint military operation to liberate Aleppo.

"We, together with our Russian partners, are preparing for an operation to liberate Aleppo and to block all illegal armed groups which have not joined or broken the ceasefire deal," the Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader Al-Halqi said during a meeting with a Russian delegation.

At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry’s official spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, noted that more than 1200 militants of the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra [banned in the Russian terrorist group] are concentrated north of Aleppo.

"Over the past day two groups of militants of more than 350 fighters armed with two infantry fighting vehicles and 13 off-road vehicles mounted with heavy machine guns arrived in the villages of Muheim Handrat and Ballirmun," he added with reference to the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria.

According to Konashenkov, the fact that militants are boosting their presence near Aleppo says that they will launch an attack on Syrian Army positions soon.

The official representative of the Defense Ministry also said that the terrorists are armed with 10 tanks and 30 all-terrain vehicles with heavy machine guns.

Russia has delivered 2.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid (bread, canned food, rice and sugar) to the province of Aleppo.

Recall, a truce came into force in Syria on 27 February. The ceasefire is not extended to Daesh, Jabhat al-Nusrah, and other affiliated organizations that have been recognized as terrorist organizations by the UN Security Council decision.
