Geneva holds latest round of talks on Transcaucasia

The latest round of international discussions on Transcaucasia has been held in Geneva. It was attended by representatives of Georgia, Russia, the United States, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The UN, the OSCE and the EU co-chaired the discussion.

The participants noted that the situation in the region remains calm and stable. A trilateral exchange of prisoners conducted on March 10 became an important indicator of interaction between Sukhumi, Tskhinvali and Tbilisi, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation expressed concern over the continuing provocations on Georgia’s border with South Ossetia and intrusions of Georgian citizens and observers of the EU mission into the republic’s territory.

Also, they expressed concern over an increase in military cooperation between Georgia and NATO.
