The historic part of Georgia's Kutaisi and 41 houses along Rioni River will be renovated according to the project which is to be launched in 2020.
Kutaisi Mayor Giorgi Chigvaria has held meetings with architects regarding the issue.
According to him, the city will maintain its historic appearance adding the buildings had never been renovated before.
Negotiations are underway with the Cultural Heritage Agency, and Ministries of Economy and Infrastructure. The project presentation will be held in Municipal Development Fund shortly.
"This will be a project of the century for Kutaisi,” Agenda.ge cited the Kutaisi mayor as saying.
He added the renovated place will be more attractive for foreign visitors.
The houses will be renovated on both banks of the river. Walking paths will also be installed. The houses have been in need of restoration for several years.
