The joint congress of the European Fair Play Association (EFPM) and the World Fair Play Council (CIFP), 21th annual EFPM General Assembly and the World Fair Play Awards Ceremony is hosted in Baku. The Congress main topic is “Fair play in competitive sport – making it real or just an ideal”.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was awarded the Fair Play Medal of the International Olympic Committee for his contribution to the development of sport and support of the principle of "Fair play." Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister, Azad Rahimov, received an award on behalf of the Head of State. He noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the principle of fairness in sport competitions.
EFPM President Christian Hinterberger thanked the Azerbaijani side for the initiative to hold the congress in Baku.
President of International Committee for Fair Play, Jeno Kamuti, said that "the First European Games were held by Azerbaijan at a very high level", Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
The Congress will last till October 11th.
