Kazakhstan legally becomes full member of WTO

Kazakhstan has become a full member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

"Today, on 30 November, Kazakhstan has become a full member of the WTO," Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said in Astana. He added that it will be officially announced at the meeting of the General Assembly.

The President expressed confidence that the country can overcome a period of oil prices at $20-30 per barrel. According to him, international institutions, particularly the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, forecast accelerated growth of Kazakhstan's economy in 2016.

In addition, Nazarbayev pledged that the country will not return to the practice of endlessly supporting the national currency at the expense of the National Fund.

The head of state said "the most important task is to quickly stabilize the financial system, to bring it in line with the new global reality," Interfax reports.
