The CSTO leaders have not yet settled the issue over the new CSTO Secretary General, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko's statement that a Belarus representative will be appointed as the next CSTO Secretary General.
“No, the matter has not been resolved,” Peskov said, adding that the issue was touched upon by the member states in Saint Petersburg yesterday, where the Supreme Eurasian Commission took place.
Peskov said that Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko touched upon the matter at the EEU summit, although it was not on the agenda, TASS repoted.
“It is a normal practice, each leader can discuss issues if he considers it necessary,” he said, noting that not all leaders of the CSTO were present at the table that time. The conversation continued during the CIS summit.
“The work will continue,” Peskov concluded.
