Kyrgyzstan completes acceptance of applications for participation in parliamentary elections

Kyrgyzstan’s Central Electoral Commission has completed the acceptance of applications from political parties willing to take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"34 political parties have filed written applications. Therefore, the rest of the parties will not be able to take part in the elections," the commission’s press service said.

The registration of the parties will continue until September 4, and the application of the candidates’ lists until August 25. The parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan are scheduled for October 4 and will be conducted exclusively according to party lists.

During the previous elections 120 seats in the country’s supreme legislative body were shared between the representatives of five political parties, TASS reports.

According to the laws of the Republic, the parliament has the right to nominate the prime minister and to form a government.
