Russia’s State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin told the Xinhua news agency that we should fear the destruction of international law and the strengthening of the selfish, hegemonic pretensions of the US government and NATO. The interview has been posted on the agency's website in Russian.
Naryshkin noted that "only those who want to maintain injustice and inequality may accept the position of the BRICS as a threat."
According to him, the BRICS is focused on the preservation of international institutions and their efficient operation. "And we do not encourage you to destroy the institutions if we are not satisfied, we offer our vision of reforms, invite you to a dialogue," the parliamentarian said.
"We should we be afraid of the creeping destruction of international law and the strengthening of the selfish, hegemonic pretensions of the US government and NATO. And if the citizens of Western countries felt their influence less than the rest of the world, now they are faced with it more and more. Therefore, people in the West, especially in Europe, are thinking about changes," the speaker said.
Political contradictions increasingly hinder recovery and progress of the world economy, Sergei Naryshkin said.
