The Administration of Border Crossings, Population and Immigration at the Israeli Ministry of Interior changed the procedure for repatriating the foreigners, aimed to fight so-called asylum tourism.
The move was made due to the fact that a large number of requests for refugee status, received from the citizens of Georgia, is not due to the situation in the country, but with the desire of tourists to get permission to work in Israel, the Israeli online newspaper Newsru.co.il reported.
Audit of the Israeli Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affair showed that the situation in Georgia is safe. In this regard,Administration of Border Crossings, Population and Immigration will not accept requests for asylum from citizens of Georgia before the expiry of their tourist visa.
