Russia and Kazakhstan to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation

Speakers of lower chambers of Russian and Kazakh parliaments, Vyacheslav Volodin and Nurlan Nigmatulin, have agreed to raise the level of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the press service of the Majilis said.

According to Nigmatulin, the parliaments of the two countries effectively cooperate with each other, as evidenced by the first official visit by a Russian speaker to Kazakhstan on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the republic's Independence.

He also stressed the importance of the new concept of Russia's foreign policy focused on strengthening cooperation with the CIS and the EEU.

Volodin, in turn, called for the intensification of inter-parliamentary cooperation, emphasizing the strategic partnership between Moscow and Astana.
