'Russian Revolution and History of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: look back a century later' plenary session held at Moscow State University

The plenary session titled 'Russian Revolution and History of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: a look back a century later' is taking place at the History Faculty of the Moscow State University. Information about the event is published on the official website of the faculty.

The plenary session is attended by employees of the Institute of Russian History, the Institute of Philosophy and the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences,  the Institute of the History of Science of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the History Faculty of the Moscow State University. The guest of honor is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Russia Polad Bulbul oglu.

During the plenary session, the participants will discuss such issues as the historical destinies of Azerbaijan and Russia in the 19th and 21st centuries, the contribution of the leaders of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic (ADR) to the formation of the Azerbaijani statehood, the problems of source study and historiography of the ADR, the Russian revolution and issues of national self-determination and education in the ADR, Transcaucasia in the conditions of  the 1917-1918civil war, the importance of Russian education in the formation of Azerbaijan's secular intelligentsia.

In addition, Alimardan Topchibashi's book 'The Paris archive’ (1919-1940), published with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will be presented at the event.

The plenary session was organized by the History Faculty of the Moscow State University(the Department of History of the CIS countries, the Diaspora History Laboratory), the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Russia, the Representative Office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia, the Institute of History of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the federal information and analysis agency Vestnik Kavkaza.
