Tajikistan to pay off its debts

Tajikistan plans to pay off its debts to Kazakhstan, Iran and Uzbekistan by the end of 2015, the Tajik Finance Ministry said.

Tajikistan's debt to Uzbekistan declined three-fold to $2.7 million during the first half of this year. Tajikistan will also pay off $610,000 to Kazakhstan and $4.5 million to Iran by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan's foreign debt is $2.1 billion, equivalent to 19.5% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
