IMF delegation to visit Iran for the first time in two years

The official representative of the International Monetary Fund ( IMF), William Murray, says that its delegation will visit Iran this week."At the consultations it is planned to discuss how to restore macroeconomic stability and begin to solve the problems posed by the continuing long-term weakening of the national economic structure," ITAR-TASS quotes Murray.This is the first trip of this kind for more than two years. It will start as expected, on January 25. The task of the IMF delegation is an assessment of the current state of Iran's economy.

Iran loses 150,000 scientists every year

Iranian Minister for Science Reza Farajidana said that the country was losing $150 billion and 150,000 scientists every year due to the brain drain problem. The IMF said in a 2009 report that Iran had the highest rate of scientists leaving the country. About 150,000-180,000 scientists migrate from Iran. Tehran has been taking certain measures to prevent the process in recent years.
