Ukraine receives $3.19 billion from IMF

Ukraine has received the first tranche ($3.19 billion) of a loan from the IMF. Ukrainian Minister for Finance Alexander Shlapak said that Ukraine was expecting the tranche on May 5-8, Trend reports.The two-year cooperation program between Ukraine and the IMF was approved by the Fund on May 1. It is worth $17 billion.

Ukraine may receive part of European aid before presidential polls

European Chief Diplomat Catherine Ashton has expressed hope at the European Parliament that Ukraine will receive 1.6 billion euros this month, before tha May 25 presidential polls, RIA Novosti reports.The European Commission formed a package of loans and grants worth about 3 billion euros and loans of the EBRD and the European Investment Bank worth 8 billion euros in early March. The European Commission promises loans worth 1.6 billion euros to comply with the IMF demands and specific conditions of the economic policy.

Russia to ban dollars?

Russian legislator Sergey Ryabukhin, head of the Federation Council committee for budget and financial markets, proposed a reduction of dollar circulation throughout the country last weekend. He called the domination of dollars disrespectful towards such a resource-rich country. Ryabukhin proposed the adoption of ruble payments for Russian exports and imports.

Fyodorov told Vestnik Kavkaza that the current fall of the ruble wouldn’t stop in the near future, and the Central Bank should be blamed for this.
