Armenian media press review (March 31st – April 6th)

This week the Armenian press fell into a stupor. According to the main Internet sources of the Armenian mass media, the country is experiencing a hunger for information, and its editions decided to wait till the difficult times are over and suspended new publications. In this regard, we apologize to our readers and offer to use the available information of some Armenian newspapers about what happens today in Armenia in addition to the exacerbation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

So, the newspaper "Zhoghovurd" writes: "The format 4 + 4 + 4 proposed by the Armenian National Congress (ANC) warned that some opposition figures risk becoming a major trump card in the hands of the authorities. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) initially warned that this format cannot claim to play a decisive role, as well as they aren't going to negotiate with either the opposition or civil society. There is a fundamental difference between negotiations and discussions."

The Chorrord Ishkhanutiun comments on President Serzh Sargsyan's call during his visit to the US to invest and promote investment in Armenia. He even addressed the Armenian-American community: "Nobody will believe in the investment attractiveness of Armenia if it is announce by the person who holds the post of President, as he has never been engaged in business, but his family owns a fortune that exceeds the annual budget of the country,'' the publication informs.

The number of Iranian tourists who visited Armenia in connection with the Novruz holiday increased by 20-30% this year in comparison with the last one, the director of the travel agency of Tatev Arlen Davudyan said in an interview with the 168 Zham.

According to him, the increase in the flow of Iranian tourists to Armenia was due to the problems in Turkey: this country is not safe now, and Iranians decided not to travel there this year. "A large number of Iranians didn't travel to Turkey. The current alternatives are Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia."
