Within the framework of the international exhibition and forum "Russia" at VDNKh, a unique exhibition of the State Museum of Oriental Art entitled "Russia. Closer to the East" opened for visitors.
At this exhibition, for the first time, works of art of peoples who are separated by thousands of kilometers, but who are all part of Russia, were brought together. Both the geographical East, that is, the Far East, and the mental East, that is, the North Caucasus, are represented here.
In pavilion № 13, everyone will be able to see more than a hundred exhibits created in the last quarter of the 20th and 21st centuries. The works of art are taken from the collections of the State Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow and its North Caucasus branch in Maykop. All of them sort of have a dialogue with each other, so that the cultural characteristics and national flavor of the different peoples of Russia stand out clearly.
The exhibition will be open until April 12.
