The price of gold futures for December delivery on the Comex exchange exceeded $4,600 per troy ounce for the first time since May 29, 2026, according to trading data.
As of 4:35 a.m. Moscow time (1:35 a.m. GMT), gold was up 1.21%, to $4,600.3 per troy ounce.
By 4:45 a.m. (1:35 a.m. GMT) the growth slowed down to $4,583.5 per troy ounce (+0.84%).
At the same time, silver futures for September delivery this year rose by 0.57% to $68.49 per troy ounce.
In January, 2026, gold surpassed $5,000 per troy ounce for the first time. Experts attributed this historic surge primarily to a flight to safe-haven assets driven by geopolitical turmoil, policy shifts, and concerns over fiat currency and U.S. fiscal sustainability rather than falling Treasury yields alone.
