Baku has the right to demand the removal of territorial claims from the Armenian Constitution that directly affects Azerbaijan's national security, spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aykhan Hajizada said.

According to him, the major challenge is Armenia's territorial claim against Azerbaijan that is enshrined within its legal and political documents, most importantly in the Constitution of Armenia, calling for reunion of Armenia and the Karabakh econnomic region.

"Azerbaijan has a legitimate right to demand the removal of this claim from the Constitution that directly affects our national security, and it cannot be labeled as an interference into Armenia’s internal affairs," Aykhan Hajizada said.

He noted that Armenia is not interested in sustainable peace and only aims to save this provision as a future backup option to resume its aggression against Azerbaijan.

"Armenia has no moral ground to question Azerbaijan’s sincerity in the peace process since Baku has taken steps to initiate a peace process," Aykhan Hajizada said.

The spokesman stressed that Armenia must realize that the only way to ensure stability and peace in the region is to build relations with neighboring countries based on recognition and adherence to sovereignty and territorial integrity.
