Fierce clashes have continued between security forces and protesters overnight in Tehran and other cities.

Last night, protest actions continued in Iran, in some cases escalating into confrontations with law enforcement.

According to a number of media reports, the nighttime demonstrations spread to Tehran and several other cities across the country. There were reports of gunfire in the streets.

Media sources report that in the cities of Rasht and Mashhad, protesters set fire to municipal administration buildings. According to Visegrad 24, protesters have taken control of Mashhad.

According to TIME, the number of casualties in the Iranian capital following the overnight clashes has reached approximately 200.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the situation in Iran. He stated that protesters have managed to seize cities, something which seemed impossible just weeks ago. Trump also warned that Washington may intervene.
