Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan has died aged 68, the press secretary of Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tigran Balayan said on his Twitter page.
Hayrapetyan spent the last years of his life in prosecutions. He was sentenced to four years in prison in Moscow, on charges of extorting $700 thousand from the mother of a Russian former senator Igor Izmestyev. But because of health problems, his prison sentence was later commuted to house arrest.
He was also accused of involvement in the illicit sale of shares owned by Bashneft, a leading Russia-based oil company.
