Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani in Ufa that Belarus is in favor of advancing cooperation with Iran.
“I think that the Iranian side cannot have problems about the issues we have discussed and agreed on, because we have always respected and implemented our agreements. I want to say that it will be the same in the future: we will always be committed to our agreements,” Lukashenko stressed.
The Belarus President emphasized that the countries had a rather complicated period in bilateral relations, connected with external claims, sanctions and pressure.
“I am very glad that these talks are taking place, there are good prospects connected with the new President of Iran. We strongly hope for the enhancement of our cooperation,” Interfax cited Lukashenko as saying.
The President of Iran, in his turn, noted Iran's interest in developing relations with Belarus. “We have always maintained good relations with you personally and with Belarus,” he said.
