Alexander Zhukov, Head of the Russian Olympic Committee, said at a presentation of the Russian team for the Sochi Olympics that the team was changed to maximize its potential.The team was expanded to 223 athletes. Two thirds of it were replaced with new athletes who had not taken part in Olympic Games. The average age of athletes dropped from 26 to 22. This will make the Russian team the youngest at the Games.

The event was attended by Russian Olympic Committee President Alexander Zhukov, Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Yuri Nagornykh, famous sportsmen and Olympic champions. The official delegation of the Russian Olympic team at the Olympic Games will consists of 750 members. The uniform has colors of the Russian flag - blue , white and red, is trimmed with real fur and decorated with folk ornaments.
