The Turkish authorities have set the date of a referendum onconstitutional amendments.
According to a declaration made by the presidential press-center, Turkish President Abdullah Gul has sent law number 5982 to the Turkish Premier for introduction and to put it to a referendum, according to the 4th point of article 175 of the Constitution, TRT reports.
The Turkish Parliament has passed the bill on constitutionalamendments with 336 out of 550 lawmakers in favor.According to Interfax, citing a local TV channel, the bill will besent to President Abdullah Gul for signing. If the Turkish leaderreturns it for consideration the bill will go to a referendum. Thissituation occurred because the legislative initiative failed toreceive over 367 votes.
