We are closely watching the provocations in Georgia, the authorities themselves initiated the bill on foreign agents and Russia has nothing to do with this, the Kremlin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
He noted that the Kremlin was watching how someone was trying to add anti-Russian elements to Georgia. He also recalled the appeal of the President of this country, Salome Zurabishvili, to the people of Georgia from the United States. The spokesman added that Russia was aware of the Georgian leadership's and was watching the situation with great concern.
Peskov: Moscow has nothing to do with it
The Kremlin spokesman said that Russia had nothing to do with the Georgian bill on foreign agents "neither in its essence nor in its form", stressing that the bill that the Georgian Parliament planned to adopt was similar to the American one.
He reminded that the Georgian leadership and some members of parliament initiated the bills themselves, specifying that Russia did not interfere in the affairs of this country.
Risks of provocations in Abkhazia and South Ossetia
At the same time, Peskov spoke on the possible risks of provocations in Abkhazia and South Ossetia against the backdrop of the situation in Georgia. According to him, such risks certainly exist.
In conclusion, he added once again that Moscow had nothing to do with the situation in Georgia.
