Türkiye and Armenia agree to reopen borders for tourists

Türkiye and Armenia are planning to permanently open the land borders between the two neighbors for citizens of third countries, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said.

According to him, the land border will initially open only for diplomats and citizens of third countries until the beginning of the tourist season. The official said Yerevan is preparing for the opening of border.

Ararat Mirzoyan also recalled that the Margara land checkpoint on the Armenian-Turkish border was opened for the first time in 30 years in February this year for Armenian trucks to deliver tons of food, medicine and other relief supplies to Turkey’s regions affected by the powerful earthquake.

There is already direct air traffic between Armenia and Türkiye.
