Russian journalists celebrate Press Day

On Saturday, December 13, employees of newspapers and magazines, television and radio companies, news agencies and online publications celebrate the Day of Russian Press.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev congratulated journalists on this holiday: "Journalistic requiers talent and hard work. You have to have your own position and bear responsibility for every wor... After all, you tell people about what is happening in the country and the world, successes and achievements, hopes of people. The most important thing is that thanks to your reports, articles and journalistic investigations problems of particular person are resolved," his congratulatory telegram, published by the government website, says.

Medvedev also thanked workers of Russian press for their dedication to their work and the fact that their really care about.

He stressed that while having different points of view, true journalists are always true to their professional duty - "to be honest and objective."

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said in his congratulations that this professional holiday unites tens of thousands of Moscow journalists.

"You set high standards for high-quality press. In many ways you form the face of modern Russian journalism. Your news and reports, interviews and articles help to change our beloved Moscow for the better," he said.

In addition, Sergey Sobyanin wished media workers strong health, prosperity and new creative successes, and also expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation between Moscow government and journalistic community.
