Construction of the first reactor of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is 99% completed, Turkey’s Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said.
"We inspected activities performed in the control room, which is the ‘brain’ of the first reactor. Its construction in 99% completed. Then we had a detailed talk and discussed project implementation progress," Bayraktar said.
According to him, Turkey will incorporate new plants planned for Sinop and Thrace, as well as small modular reactors, into its production portfolio.
Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev said that steady connection with the energy system of Turkey has been ensured.
Rosatom is building Turkey's first Akkuyu NPP in Mersin province. The NPP is to operate four 1,200 MW power units.
