China moves business to Kazakhstan

Kazakhstani Prime Minister Karim Masimov said in Astana after the meeting of SCO prime ministers that China was planning to move non-raw enterprises to Kazakhstan. Dozens of enterprises will sign multi-billion contacts to realize the plans. China is planning to build factories in Kazakhstan.

Astana proposes SCO reciprocal payments in national currencies

 Kazakhstani Prime Minister Karim Masimov proposed SCO states to switch to reciprocal payments in national currencies as a session of SCO prime ministers in Astana today, Interfax reports.He noted that Kazakhstan was open for dialogue to find optimal formats of the reciprocal payment mechanism. 

Russian president starts visit to Uzbekistan

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Uzbekistan to discuss the sale of Uzbek agricultural products to Russia with Uzbek President Islam Karimov, according to Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov, TASS reports.The sides will discuss the debt worth about $890 million Uzbekistan owes Russia. $500 million of the sum is debt and $388 million is the interest rate.

Trend is hosting a round-table conference entitled “Post-Soviet space: civilization aspects of modern crises and conflicts”, organized by the Baku office of the North-South Politological Center and Vestnik Kavkaza. Rasim Musabekov, a member of the Azerbaijani parliament, called the fall of the USSR a catastrophe. He noted that the USSR had never become the world leader, unlike the British Empire in its time. Musabekov reminded that Japan had collapsed and had been occupied but managed to rise. He expressed doubt that Russia was any more alien to Europe than China. The lawmaker added that Kazakhstan and Belarus did not want confrontation between the West and Russia.

Heads of governments of CSO member-states will meet in Astana on December 14-15. Moscow held a session of the SCO Council of National Coordinators last weekend to discuss the agenda of the upcoming Astana meeting, RIA Novosti reports.

The Iranian Supreme Human Rights Council has protested against new EU sanctions imposed on the Sharif University of Technology, TASS reports.Iran reminds that people have the right to education, and any attempt to put pressure on higher educational centers violates the UNESCO Convention against Discrimination in Education.Brussels had earlier imposed sanctions on the Sharif University of Technology, but they were lifted by the Court of Justice of the European Union.
