Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova took part in the meeting of the UN General Assembly, the theme of which was "Zero Waste as a Transformative Solution in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals".

In her speech, she spoke about the fact that Armenia carried out ecological terror during the occupation of Karabakh. Gafarova stressed that for 30 years Yerevan had been pursuing a policy of Azerbaijani reserves and forests destruction.

The speaker noted that natural resources were illegally exploited in the territory of Karabakh. In addition to this, according to Gafarova, Yerevan was actively polluting the transboundary rivers that flowed from Armenia to Azerbaijan.

In her speech, she recalled that countries had the legal and moral right to protect nature and the world around them for the sake of future and current generations. At the same time, the speaker added that not all countries complied with these obligations.
