Türkiye and Kazakhstan are expanding economic ties through investments in Almaty airport and implementation of various projects related to the management and development of the major city’s airport.

TAV Airports, a Turkish company that has managed Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan since 2021, has increased its investment in the facility, further strengthening cooperation between Türkiye and Kazakhstan.

Ankara is paying particular attention on joint projects between the two nations. As Türkiye remains one of the region’s key aviation hubs, Turkish companies are expanding their collaboration with other countries, including Kazakhstan, particularly in airport management and development.

To date, the airport of Kazakhstan’s largest city has completed the first phase of its expansion.

The first phase, worth 257 mln euros, was concluded in 2024, with new international and VIP terminals opening at the airport. The second phase, worth 315 mln euros, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
